A loaded auto-transport rig on the road at golden hour, cars stacked across both decks behind a conventional cab.

Drive vehicles,
not freight.

Moving cars is
its own trade.

If you have run dry freight, this is a different job with the same license. Four things make it different, and all four are yours to get right.

  1. 01

You load and unload it yourself

Auto transport is not drop-and-hook. You run the ramps and the hydraulic decks, and you place each vehicle by inches — angles, clearances and the order they come off in are all decided by you before the first one goes on.

The loading ramps, grating and tie-down rails of a car carrier seen from above, running the length of the trailer.
  2. 02

Every vehicle is secured by hand

Wheel straps run through the tie-down rails on every unit, drawn tight and checked before you roll. They are checked again at every stop, because a strap that was right at the yard is not automatically right two hundred miles later.

A wheel strap ratcheted down to the deck rail beside a loaded vehicle, the trailer's marker tape below.
  3. 03

The condition travels with the load

A walk-around at pickup and another at delivery, recorded either side. On a load of new vehicles the difference between the two is the entire job, which is why the paperwork on an auto-transport run carries more weight than it does hauling boxes.

New vehicles ranked in a staging lot under white transit roof covers, seen down the length of the rows.
  4. 04

You deliver to people, not docks

Dealership lots, staging yards and ordinary residential streets, inside the window that was promised to whoever is waiting. Getting a full-length hauler into a tight delivery and back out again is a real part of the skill.

Vehicles lined up on the ground at their destination, ready to be handed over.

One carrier,
one kind of load.

Only what Solidify has confirmed. Where a figure has not been confirmed, this page asks you to talk to the carrier rather than printing a number.

  1. You would be driving for the carrier itself

    Who you deal with

Solidify performs the transport itself rather than arranging it for someone else. Dispatch, paperwork and payment all run through one company, based in Tracy, CA.

  2. Every load is vehicles

    What you carry

Cars, trucks and SUVs for manufacturers, dealerships and individuals. No dry freight, no mixed commodities — auto transport is all Solidify does.

  3. All 48 contiguous states

    Where the work runs

Vehicle transport across all 48 contiguous states, with a strong Western-US focus.

  4. Solidify's own equipment

    What you would run

This route is for drivers who want a Truck / Power Unit provided. If you already own yours, the owner-operator route is the one you want instead.

What every motor
carrier has to check.

These are federal rules under 49 CFR Part 391 and they apply to any carrier you drive for, Solidify included.

  • 01

    A commercial driver's license

Valid for the class of vehicle being operated, and for the state you are licensed in.

  • 02

    A current medical certificate

Issued by a certified medical examiner and in date for the whole time you are driving.

  • 03

A driving record the carrier reviews

Every motor carrier is required to obtain and review the record of each driver it puts on the road.

Beyond that floor, what Solidify is looking for — experience, endorsements and the runs it needs covering — is confirmed with you directly. Nothing further is published here, because nothing further has been confirmed.

Submitted through a secure connection. We use your details only to respond to this inquiry.

Owner-operators have their own route through.

If you run your own Truck / Power Unit and carry your own authority and insurance, the compensation, the requirements and the application all sit on the owner-operator page.

Questions before you call

01Is this the same as the owner-operator route?

No. Owner-operators run their own Truck / Power Unit and carry their own insurance, and they apply through the driver application portal. This page is for drivers who would run equipment provided by Solidify. If you own your truck, start on the Owner Operators page instead.

02How do I apply?

Send your details through the form on this page, or call the office. Solidify follows up directly — there is no separate portal for this route.

03What license do I need?

Federal rules require a commercial driver's license valid for the vehicle being operated, and a current medical examiner's certificate. Which class and which endorsements apply to a given run is something Solidify confirms with you directly.

04What does the pay look like?

Pay for this route is discussed directly with Solidify. Nothing is published here that has not been confirmed, so rather than post a figure we cannot stand behind, we would rather have the conversation.

05Where will I run?

Solidify moves vehicles across all 48 contiguous states, with strong Western-US coverage.

06What happens to the details I send?

They are sent over an encrypted connection and delivered directly to Solidify Transport. This website does not keep a copy, and nothing is saved in your browser.
